The v-ribbed belt is the successor to the v-belt and fulfills the same function. The v-ribbed belt as well as the v-belt, provides a connection between the various pulleys. The piston within the internal combustion engine is fired by the combustion of the air-fuel mixture. This turns the connecting rod, which in turn drives the crankshaft.
